Electron spins nudge a levitated, centimeter-wide diamond for the first time

OIST researchers used the spin force of billions of nitrogen-vacancy centers, switched on with a green laser, to push a magnetically levitated 100 mg diamond assembly and measured the motion to picometer precision, the first time a quantum effect has been seen directly moving an object large enough to feel gravity in a meaningful way.
