Immunotherapy before surgery kept one bowel cancer type away for three years
In a UK trial of 32 people with a genetically distinct form of stage two or three bowel cancer, up to nine weeks of pembrolizumab before surgery produced no recurrences after 33 months of follow-up, while roughly a quarter of patients on standard surgery plus chemotherapy are expected to relapse within three years.
